Congratulations! It is our pleasure to inform you that you've been hired for the job of writer/ illustrator. After carefully considering the applications and reviewing your contribution to the project thus far, we've decided to hire each one of you. You've worked hard for this opportunity, and you should be proud of the effort that you've put forth.

We are glad that you have chosen this undertaking, and we are confident that you will be able to handle the challenges and demands of the summer.       You've learned a lot this semester. You've learned how to read carefully, you've learned about plot structure and character development, you've learned about college, and you've learned about working as a team. You've also learned that writing a book is hard, funny, challenging, exciting, frustrating and important.

Literature can change lives. In writing this book, you are literally working to change people's lives. And writing can change your own life. What you are doing is important -- it is necessary. Despite whatever difficulties you have and will encounter along the way, your efforts are part of something enormous and positive. And that's the big picture. Your work is changing lives.
